1)
The polysaccharide (PAP) from Potentilla anserina was evaluated for modulating effects by using mouse peritoneal macrophage and the immunosuppressed-model cyclophosphamide-induced.  Phagocytotic and mononuclear phagocytic system function assays showed that PAP stimulated the phagocytosis of phagocyte.  Splenocyte proliferation assay showed that PAP acted the effect combining Con A or LPS in splenocyte proliferation.  The parameters detected showed that PAP increased thymus and spleen indexes, the levels of LDH and ACP in the spleen, and IL-10and IFN-g in serum in immunosuppressed mice.  The results suggest that PAP is involved in immunomodulatory effects leading to the exploration for PAP as a potential immunostimulant.

2) The Tibetan herb Potentilla anserina L. has been widely used in China for many thousands of years to treat hepatitis-B.  Bioassay-guided fractionation of the ethanol ext. of the rhizomes led to the isolation of a triterpenoid saponin (TS) that was detd. to be 2a,3b,19a-trihydroxyurs-12-en-28-oic acid b-D-glucopyranosyl ester.  Using models of HBV infection, this compd. was evaluated for its effect on HBV antigene expression in the 2.2.15 cell line in vitro and anti-hepatitis B virus (HBV) activities in Peking ducklings in vivo.  Results showed that it could decrease the expression levels of HBsAg, HBeAg and HBVDNA in the 2.2.15 cell culture and the inhibitory effect was not due to the cytotoxicity of the triterpenoid saponin.  The antiviral study in vivo on Peking ducklings also demonstrated that this compd. inhibits duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) DNA replication.

The invention relates to a pharmaceutical formulation based on variable portions of: (i) micronized zeolite (MZ) of general formula: (Men+)x/n[(AlO)x(SiO2)y].mH20 (Me = Na, K, Mg, Ca; whereas ratio of Si to Al y:x is 6:1 to 1:1; no. of cryst. water m = 0-20), which is characterized by particles size < 5 mm; in concns. from 1-50%, most preferably from 3-30%; (ii) green tea ext. contg. at least 30% of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and 5% of caffeine; in concns. from 0.1-90%, most preferably from 20-90%; (iii) genistein; in concns. from 0.05-20%, most preferably from 1-10%; and (iv) one or more excipients which yield in desired pharmaceutical or cosmetic form: tablets, capsules, ointments, creams, gels, lotions, shampoos, powders, liq. powders, syrups, suspensions, and therapeutic patches; in concns. from 1-98.85%, most preferably from 10-75%; which is useful for highly effective redn. of body wt. and cellulite.  Thus, women using a hydrophilic (O/W) cream contg. 2% of micronized zeolite clinoptilolite (MZ), 2% of green tea ext. and 0.25% genistein reported significant redn. of intensity of cellulite appearance in comparison to women which used a control cream of the same compn. but without MZ.
